How To Promote Your Website

Are you thinking of promoting your website online? This could actually pose a little bit of a problem to you. Let's face it. On the Internet, searching for websites could yield hundreds, or even thousands of results in just one click. Therefore, the possibility of people visiting your website is one in a thousand. Here are six techniques on how to promote your website.

Free directories

One very effective tip on how to promote your website is to get listed on free directories online. Visit www.dmoz.com. There are a couple of websites that copy their directory. If you have your site listed, you can get yourself linked on to a lot more websites online.

Competitor's popularity

You always need to check your competitor's popularity. You need to know where you stand in the market. Having a new website does not have to mean lower online visits or hits than other websites around. It is just a matter of knowing your competitors by simply searching them out on Google. Also try checking www.linkpopularity.com. This website can help you determine how popular your website is compared to others. Aside from that, it can also help you get hooked up on many different sites you can find.

Competitors Visitors

Obviously, this is a very big factor in promoting your website. In www.alexa.com, you may see a lot of information regarding your competitors' websites, specifically their visitors and where they live, how many times they visit and the other websites they go to.

Quality and Reliable Links

One-tenth of your visitors may have possibly found your website through the use of a search engine. The key here is to find quality links that will point to your website. Choose quality websites with a great number of customers. You could ace your website promotion in no time at all. Related websites will help you rank well in search engines for the reason that you have a targeted audience.

Signature

Why not get your own signature for your email? Most people often ignore this idea. But if users come across your signature file, it could boost your "visit" or "hit probability". It can also show users that you are a website owner who is serious in publishing your site.

Strategy is the key in promoting your website. Do not be content on being just one of those websites scattered around. You can always strive to be one of the most visited sites on the Internet.

Quick Tips for Designing Your Banner

While banners have lost the appeal of many marketers on the web, they are still an effective means of pulling in traffic. The key is to have a visually appealing banner with an enticing offer. Here's what you need to do:

Before you start, decide exactly what you want your banner to do. Decide the action you want your prospect to take. Keep this in mind at all times when you're designing the banner! Who are you making this banner for? Stay focused on your target market Generate curiosity, Create excitement, Make it urgent! Write about BENEFITS

Make sure you tell people what action you want them to take! If you want them to go to your website, put a box that says CLICK HERE. This will dramatically increase your traffic. This works even better if you underline text in your message and make it look like a link. Promote Free Reports, Free Samples, Free Ebooks - Free Always Pulls Well! Use bright colors that draw a person's attention. Yellow, blue and green tend to pull the best. Make sure your banner is fast loading. Keep it under 10K. You want your banner to load fast for everyone, even people will slow 28.8k modems!

Animated banners tend to catch people's eyes better than static ones. Just don't overdo it! Remember, you want a fast loading time. Surf the web for a little while and look at banners that catch YOUR eye. This will give you ideas for designing your own banners. Change your banners on a regular basis to maximize effectiveness. Test all your banners! A good way to do this is through banner exchange programs. Once you establish which ones have the best response rate, you can place the 'winning' banners on targeted private sites.

How Pay Per Click Search Engines Work

Pay per click search engines are an effective way to attract cheap, targeted traffic to your website. The best and most popular pay per click search engines are Overture (GoTo) and FindWhat.

So, how do these sites work?

Advertisers bid on search result words and phrases. A Pay Per Click (also known as Pay Per Ranking, Pay Per Placement or Pay Per Position) search engine enables you to list your site at the top of the search results according to the keyword bid.

You list your website by selecting keywords that refer to your product or service. For each keyword you determine how much you are willing to spend. The higher you bid, the higher you will appear in the search results.

In pay per click search engine, you only pay for clicks or click throughs to your web site. Pay-per-click search engines play an important role in driving traffic to your site because you only pay for actual clicks. It is risk free and a cheaper alternative to listing with the bigger search engines.

Before you do anything with pay per clicks, you might want to learn more on Pay Per Click Search Engine Theory:

Tips and Tricks to Advertise Using Pay Per Click Search Engines

Always keep your profit margin in mind. If the average visitor to your site generates 10 cents of profit for you (after counting all your costs!), and you can get the visitor for less than 10 cents, then you make money. So it's crucial that you be able to track your visitors and determine how much they are worth to you.

Monitor the effectiveness of all your search terms. For example, you could have a different URL for each keyword. You can use this to track what search terms are actually generating income for you. You will find that some search terms are worth only a few cents while others might generate a dollar or more in income per click. Bid accordingly. Overture (GoTo) has a basic tutorial that demonstrates a couple of ways of making it easier to track the results of your search terms. Take some time to look at what others are doing before you jump into bidding. You want to be very careful when it comes to spending your money!

Check the traffic count on keywords. Look for those with the lowest price that will bring visitors to your site. Sometimes certain keywords get overlooked and these can produce some nice traffic for your site.

Pay per click search engines are an effective way to get the most out of your marketing budget. Take the time to explore this option further and you will be pleasantly surprised at the results you achieve.

Promoting Your Business Offline

Promoting Your Business Offline

Offline promotion for your Internet business is important. Use traditional marketing channels and media. Incorporate your Website URL (web address), phone number, and mailing address into all of your printed and promotional materials. This increases your penetration into your targeted market, as well as the general population.

Business Cards

These are one of the most effective marketing tools. Business cards act as mini billboards that reflect your business image. Extra business cards in your wallet, purse, or briefcase increase your chances to spread the news about your business.

Distribute business cards to happy prospects, place your business card in classified sections of publications such as newspapers and magazines, employ the help of your family by giving them business cards to pass out to their friends and business associates, pass cards out at parties, and exchange business cards with friends. When you are at an appointment, leave your business cards at an office, beauty salon, etc. Tack your business cards on bulletin boards at schools, in your local grocery stores, health clubs, libraries, and community bulletin boards. When you send mail, enclose business cards, even in your bills! :-)

Think creatively! I went into a bookstore the other day and was browsing through the section on network marketing and ways to make money online. Almost every book had a business card placed somewhere in the pages. This is a great example of targeting your market and thinking a little 'outside the box'.

Flyers

Flyers offer an inexpensive way to jumpstart your marketing efforts with a small or nonexistent budget. A well-designed, business flyer is equivalent to your target market perusing a full-page ad. A simple and to-the-point business flyer catches your prospective customer's eye within the first few seconds! Aggressively distribute your flyers on car windshields, under doors, on counters, bulletin boards and light poles. Get youth groups to distribute door to door for you or exchange flyers with other businesses.

Print Ads

Ads in daily newspapers can become very costly. Small, cheaper ads in Sunday issues can increase marketing productivity. Contact media and public relations departments of media you are interested in advertising with and ask for a rate card.

Broadcast Advertising

Broadcast Advertising with radio is an inexpensive way to target specific age groups and lifestyles. Local Cable television is also a low-cost alternative that gives you access to a wide audience; rates are similar to radio advertising.

Brochures

Brochures and other printed materials are high-impact ways to increase your company's exposure. Use printing companies that offer professional quality at lower prices.

Postcards

Postcards are a cheap and effective way for prospective consumers to get your marketing message without even opening an envelope.

Besides the above, there are still lots of ways for you to promote your business, such as letterhead, calendars, bumper stickers, magnetic signs, direct mail, even t-shirts !
